Changing your Sony Entertainment Network account password
When you sign in to PlayStation®Network, you will be required to change your password.
To change your password :
- Select
(Sign In) under
(PlayStation®Network). -
Enter the current sign-in ID (e-mail address) and password for your Sony Entertainment Network account, and then
select [Sign In]. Check that you can receive messages at this e-mail address.

- Select [OK] from the screen that prompts you to change your password.
A screen for entering a new password is displayed.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to change your password.
After you have changed your password, you will be able to sign in to PlayStation®Network. - If the screen for entering a new password is not displayed after step 3, your PS3® system has never been activated on PlayStation®Network using your account. In this case, an e-mail message will be sent to your registered e-mail address. Follow the instructions in the e-mail message to access a website and change your password.
If you have forgotten your password
If you have forgotten your password, you will need to change it from the PlayStation®Network website. You will receive a link to the website in an e-mail message. Follow the instructions shown below.
- Select
(Sign In) under
(PlayStation®Network). - Select [Forgot your password?] on the sign-in screen.

- Enter your sign-in ID (e-mail address) and your date of birth, and then select [Continue].
Check that you can receive messages at this e-mail address.

- Check that your e-mail address is correct and then select [Confirm].
An e-mail message will be sent to your registered e-mail address. Follow the instructions in the e-mail message to change your password. When you have changed your password, you will be able to sign in to PlayStation®Network.
- If the Sony Entertainment Network account you are using is a sub account, it may be necessary to first sign in using the master account to change the password.
Game
Online Storage
[Online Storage] has been added as a feature under
(Game) >
(Saved Data Management).
You can now store saved data for a game (PlayStation®3 format software) on a PlayStation®Network server, and then download it to another PlayStation®3 system to continue playing your game. To use this feature you must have a Sony Entertainment Network account and a subscription to PlayStation®Plus.
- The maximum available storage capacity for one Sony Entertainment Network account is 150 MB.
- The maximum number of saved data items that can be stored with one Sony Entertainment Network account is 1000.
- Saved data that is not for PlayStation®3 format software cannot be stored.
- You can upload copy-protected saved data at any time.
- Once copy-protected saved data is uploaded to or downloaded from online storage, you must wait at least 24 hours before downloading the same data again.
- You cannot use online storage for some games. For details about games or services that do not support online storage, select here.
Uploading saved data for PS3™ format software to online storage
- Select
(Game) >
(Saved Data Utility). - Select the data you want to upload, and then press the
button. - Select [Copy].
- Select [Online Storage] as the save destination.
Downloading saved data from online storage to the PS3™ system
- Select
(Game) >
(Saved Data Utility), and then select [Online Storage]. - Select the saved data you want to download, and then press the
button. - Select [Copy].
