Popular Basketball Franchise From 989 Sports® Returns for its Seventh Season on PlayStation

LOS ANGELES, May 13, 2003 – Sony Computer Entertainment America Inc. announced today that NBA ShootOut 2004 from the 989 Sports® development team will be available in stores September 2003 for the PlayStation® game console. Now in its seventh season, NBA ShootOut 2004 continues to deliver a complete PlayStation NBA experience. Refined gameplay, through enhanced controls, and restructured Artificial Intelligence result in a fast-paced, action-packed game that brings the true tempo of the NBA to life.

Featuring enhanced graphics including recognizable player models and authentic designed arenas and courts, NBA ShootOut 2004 replicates the NBA in a lifelike TV style presentation, complete with a two-man booth made up of Ian Eagle and Bill Walton. NBA ShootOut 2004 furthers the NBA experience with 18 one-touch player controls including Screen, Auto Defend, Pump Fake and Special Dribble so gamers will have quicker and more refined player movements. In addition, Total Control™ Passing, Screening, Shooting and Dribbling combine with motion-captured animations from NBA stars to give gamers complete control over lifelike player motions such as dribbling through traffic, passing, shooting or performing one of more than 50 signature dunks.

NBA ShootOut 2004 utilizes the consultation of more than a dozen NBA players to create the ultimate basketball simulation. Gamers will have access to playbooks that include more than 450 team specific plays in precise detail. Game modes such as Create Dunk and General Manager further expand the scope of the game by incorporating on-court creativity and basketball knowledge. In addition, all 29 NBA teams and arenas are accurately recreated, and gamers are given the opportunity to track statistics for all players and teams in a seemingly endless number of categories making this game the must-have for any true hoops fan.
